Zakat

The literal term for Zakaat would be ‘to purify’, as in the Qur’an: “take from their wealth so that you might purify and sanctify them” (9:103).
As Muslims we must all understand that the wealth we have is actually a gift from Allah SWT.  We must recognize the fact that we are only sharing a small portion from the wealth that Allah SWT has gifted us for the betterment of the ummah not to forget that is also saves us from greed and miserliness.
It is the responsibility of the wealthy people to fulfill the rights of the underprivileged.
The Quran clearly informs us on who is entitled to Zakaat: “alms are only for the poor and the needy, and those who collect them, and those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and to free captives and debtors, and for the cause of Allah, and for travelers”.
We at Ummah Charity International have a vision that hunger and destitution should be ended and Zakaat could be used to change the root cause of poverty, which is why we use our funds wisely and the benefits to the community can be seen clearly.
